DVA Community Nursing

Veterans Community Nursing provides necessary Clinical Nursing and/or personal care services to eligible members of the Veteran community.

The Community Nursing services are provided in your own home where the Community Nurse helps you to maintain or restore your maximum level of health and independence. This may assist you to avoid premature or inappropriate admittance to hospital or residential care. Regal Community Nurses are able to provide care in the home 7 days a week and can assist families with complex care needs by providing continuous long term support.

Eligibility is dependent on the type of Repatriation Health Card (Gold or White card) you have, the kind of residence you live in and if you are currently receiving any other types of healthcare. We can assist you to assess what entitlements you may have to engage our services.

There is no cost to Veterans, War widows or widowers who are eligible under the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Community Nursing Program. If you are not eligible through this programme, we can still provide your nursing care privately, on a fee for service basis.

Services Available
We provide Clinical and Personal care so you can keep living your life with dignity and independence. Regal Home Health can assist with personal care, wound care, diabetes, palliative care, continence management as well as many hospital substitution services.

Arranging an Assessment
All you have to do is contact your local doctor and discuss a referral for Community Nursing assistance. They will then pass this onto our Client Services Team.
We also can receive a referral from your Local Medical officer (LMO) or other General Practitioner (GP); Treating doctor in a hospital; Hospital discharge planner; Nurse Practitioner specialising in a Community Nursing field; or Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) Assessment Agency. We take care of the rest.
