My name is Shuang and I started working with Regal as a support worker on casual basis with the North Sydney team in Oct 2020.
After working with Regal for the past six months, I have felt so fortunate that I am a member of such a warm family with huge support and care.
Before joining Regal, I did not have any experience of working in the community, driving in different areas and visiting clients in their homes. Initially, I was concerned about this new role but before starting to work independently, Regal provided me with a full range of training including a field interview, office orientation and field orientation all of which gave me confidence and a much better understanding of my working environment.
Being a single mum is very difficult – how to keep the balance between work and family duty is even more challenging.
With Regal, I believe that I am not working alone and the whole team are supporting me. I feel I belong in Regal and I have passion to be part of the team.
From the moment I stepped into Regal’s office for my interview, I felt nothing but support and positivity. I was welcomed by staff and was interviewed by Michelle. During the interview I felt really comfortable because of how I was greeted – the staff were lovely. From what I saw everyone had a positive approach to work and seemed happy. This in itself made me feel comfortable.
I had spoken to Michelle in regards to my past experiences and the challenges that I faced being a new graduate nurse . Michelle was very empathetic and understanding of my situation. Even though I lacked experience , Michelle and the team decided to take me on board and provide me with a training programme that included buddying me up with a fellow senior Registered Nurse.
There has not been a day since I’ve started working for Regal where I’ve felt a lack of support. At Regal, regardless of time and place , there is always someone to call , whether it’s the staff in the office , or your fellow nurses – there is support available all the time . It is safe to say that I love working for Regal and I’m forever grateful for all the support that I’ve received on this journey so far. Looking forward to many more years to come !
